| Stretching northward for more than 100km from Waubra
to St Arnaud, The Pyrenees Ranges are home to some of Victoria's
most beautiful, and lofty, vineyards.
This is serious wine country, where the competition between
vineyards often runs deeper than the quality of the latest vintage.
The region was the first in Victoria to add petanque to the more
sedate sport of tasting, and today many Pyrenees vineyards host
regular tournaments on their own pistes.
And there are more prizes in the Pyrenees. The region is also
home to Warrenmang Vineyard and Resort, the Australian winner in
2003 of the inaugural Great Wine Capitals of the World international
award for Best in Winery Tourism.
